Course Objective

To have a comprehensive understanding of cellular organization and how cellular processes are controlled

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   to describe the structure and function of organelles and biological macromolecules of prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells at advanced level
2   to explain the processes that generate energy in cells at advanced level
3   to describe the organization of DNA in prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells at advanced level
4   to discuss the mechanisms of DNA replication, repair and recombination
5   to list the major cell signalling pathways and discuss their roles in cell s interaction with its environment at advanced level
6   to recall the stages of cell cycle and explain its regulation at the molecular level
7   to compare and contrast different types of cell death mechanisms
8   to describe processes that lead to cancer
