Course Objective

The course aims to supply the student with information on art jewellery from Modernism on along with the new jewellery concept and information on jewellery works of contemporary artists/designers. The course also aims the student to have ability to set the concept and design a unique wearable object proposal and experiment and use alternative and new materials and production techniques accordingly.

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

Within the context of the course,
The lectures are arranged to provide students with the knowledge on the transformation of jewellery from Modernism up to date using visual material. Pioneer jewellery designers and artists and their approaches on jewellery along with especially the materials and production methods is studied. Students are asked to develop design ideas and studying on these proposals, the material and production methods are determined. Finally, the wearable object is produced in the atelier.

Assessment Criteria

Evaluation stage of the course;
1- The evaluation will be performed by considering the research that student made
related to the assigned project, student's performance from the sketch period to the
end of design (producing ideas, revealing creative and unique designs, design analysis
within the course and student's participation to the evaluation time periods
intellectually and verbally), conformity of the designs with the project, student's
success in determination of production materials and manufacturing techniques of design
in accordance with the project as well as the collection produced.
2- By paying attention to the performance of the student before evaluation jury (to be
able to defend his/her designs and products) and student's assignments.

Course Policies and Rules

1.There is an 80 % obligation in attendance to lesson.
2. All plagiarism attempts and actions would end up in disciplinary punishment
3. If one doesn t hand over the required sketch- design studies on time, the evaluation
would be carried out by taking this into consideration. But the student is supposed tohand over required things.
4. For late project deliveries, decreasing a letter grade for each day will be applied.
