General Description
History |
The Department of Molecular Medicine was founded in 2009 as a multidisciplinary department under the umbrella of the Graduate School of Health Sciences, with the legal approval from the High Council of Education in Ankara. Faculty members from various departments of basic sciences (Biochemistry, Medical Biology, Pathology, Histology-Embryology, Pharmacology, Basic Oncology) and clinical sciences (Paediatrics and Internal Medicine) take part in this department. MSc training in Molecular Medicine has been started in the academic year 2009-2010. The programme lasts two years including two semesters of courses and two semesters of thesis work. The programme language is Turkish. |

Specific Admission Requirements |
First Cycle (Bachelors Degree) diploma, minimum score of 55 from the nation-wide Academic Graduate Education Entrance Examination (ALES) in the related fields or 50 in graduate medical residency examination (TUS) , acceptable minimum score of 60 from the Foreign Language Exams (UDS/KPDS) or the equivalent exams scores obtained from TOEFL/IELTS/etc. or being successful at the foreign language examination of the Institute (minimum score of 70) and being successful at the science examination of the Institute in the related fields (minimum score of 65) |
Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal) |
According to the Regulations of Dokuz Eylül University for Graduate Schools, students are not connected to the right for internal transfer, previously taken courses at another graduate programme by another university with a successful grade may be recognized by the related programmes after the letter of the students includes course contents and the transcript, and by the recommendation of the head of the departments and by the decision of the Board of Directors. The courses taken by the outgoing Exchange students have the recognition at the school either as compulsory or elective. |

Second Cycle (Masters Degree) Programme with thesis is comprised of courses (at least 54 ECTS), a seminar (2 ECTS), and field study (4 ECTS) and thesis (60 ECTS) credits. İn total 120 ECTS credits. Students must have minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.50/4.00 and completed all the courses with at least CB / S / TP grades. |
Profile of the Programme |
The department of Molecular Medicine has started its graduate training in the year 2009-2010. The objectives of this programme are to educate individuals having a good maitrise of basic and up-dated theoretical and laboratory information in molecular medicine and closely related fields, to train students in basic laboratory skills as well as those skills necessary for thier thesis, to teach them how to analyse, make a synthesis, and evaluate, to train them in data searching and in scientific methodology and in effective scientific communication. Students can choose electives from other departments as well as from other universities. |

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading |
Assessment of courses take place using two mid-term and one final examination, written assignments, and projects. The minimum requirement for success is 75/100 points. |
