Course Objective

In the course of Geriatrics Nursing, it is aimed to enable the student to comprehend the importance, roles and responsibilities of Geriatrics nursing and obtain the knowledge and skills that would render the services of Geriatrics nursing in every area, where healthcare services are rendered.

1   the student can comprehend the needs caused by social changes and the aging society
2   the student can define the concepts regarding Geriatrics nursing
3   the student can explain the bio-psycho-social changes that affect the health of the aged individual
4   the student can make a comprehensive geriatric assessment
5   the student can be acquainted with approaches that protect and develop the health of the aged individual
6   the student can determine the health education needs of the aged individual, in line with the needs of the individual, family and society
7   the student can plan the care of the aged individual

3 Multidimensional (bio-psycho-social) assessment of aged individuals
4 Sarcopenia in aged individuals
5 Psycho-social dimension of aged individuals
6 Prevention of Alzheimer
7 Principles of medication use in aged individuals
8 Midterm Exam
9 Care of individual with Alzheimer
10 Hidration in the aged individual
11 Nutrition in the aged individual
12 Aged individual perception (scale study, discussion)
13 Simulation of understanding aged individual
14 Visiting disability center
