Course Objective

The objective of this course is to study historical texts in the frame of their text type and to gain theoretical knowledge and skills concerning discourse analysis on historical texts.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To study historical texts in the frame of text type categorizations and their functions.
2   To analyze information in historical texts that belong to other disciplines.
3   To analyze discourse on historical texts.
4   To distinguish interdisciplinary approaches to discourse analysis.
5   To interpret sociocultural, ideological, linguistic, textual elements, content and signs by analysis.

Learning outcomes will be assessed by questions regarding the course topics in midterm and final exam and by the evaluation of assignments and/or presentations prepared by the students.
