Arrangements for Academic Guidance

Short Cycle and First Cycle Advisors

An academic staff member is assigned to students as an advisor to  support their education, starting from their registration and continuing until they graduate. These advisors mentor the students as required, especially in course selection and registration renewals.

Second Cycle Thesis Consultant

A Master’s degree with a thesis: An academic staff member is assigned as a thesis advisor to each student in the first semester of the relevant academic year by the Administrative Board of the Graduate School upon the proposal of the Graduate School Department. In order to be assigned as a thesis advisor, academic staff must hold a PhD degree at minimum.

A Master’s degree without a thesis: academic staff, holding a PhD degree (at minimum), are assigned as advisors for course selection and semester projects to each student in the first semester of the relevant year by the Administrative Board of the Graduate School in accordance with the Graduate School Department’s proposals.

Doctoral Proficiency- Proficiency of Art Thesis Advisor

Academic staff (professor or associate professor) whose fields of study covers the thesis topic, are assigned as advisors for the course planning and course registration issues of every student in the first semester of the relevant year by the Administrative Board of the Graduate School in accordance with the proposals submitted by the related Department of the Graduate School.

CAREER PLANNING OFFICE

The Career Planning Office opened in October 2011. Its objectives are to prepare to students for business life and build connections between business representatives and students, and to guide students toward their career targets as well as activities. It also introduces our university to candidate students.

The services and responsibilities of the office: Personal Career Consultancy, Personal Development Training, Career Days, Announcements of Vacancies and Internships, the Introduction of Career Opportunities, Conferences, Seminars, Panels, the Introduction of International Education and Career Opportunities, Alumni Collaboration and Communication.

All the current students and graduates of Dokuz Eylul University are the target group of the Career Planning Office.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT AND SUPPORT UNIT

The Project Management and Support facility opened in 2009 to support research according to the EU Frameworks Programmes, EU Education and Culture Programmes and other international programmes. The office supports researchers, students, and academicians on research programmes, EU individual scholarships and support schemes, mobility programmes and will be working on technology transfers in the very near future. The facility also aids our students and researchers to participate in the youth action activities and programmes.
