History

Department of Internal Medicine Nursing was established at September 26, 1994 as a department of Institute of Health Science by approval of the Senate. Our academic staff are consist ed of members of Department of Surgical Nursing of the Nursing Faculty and members of the Faculty of Medicine Department of Neurology and Geriatrics. Internal Medicine Nursing MSc program has been started education at September 26, 1994. Program duration is 2 years (1 year is course, 1 year is thesis study. The language of program is Turkish.

Specific Admission Requirements

Bachelor s Degree; having obtained at least 55 from relevant branch of Academic Personnel and Postgraduate Education Entrance Exam (ALES) or from exams equivalence of which are accepted; in case of graduate of Faculty of Medicine having obtained at least 50 from Medical Specialty Exam (TUS); having obtained at least 50 from Foreign Language Exam (YDS) or from other foreign language exams equivalence of which are accepted or at least 55 from the exam held by DEU Foreign Languages Institute. Transcript; having obtained at least 65 from the Post Graduate Science Exam.

Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)

According to the Regulations of Dokuz Eylül University for Graduate Schools, students are not connected to the right for internal transfer, previously taken courses at another graduate programme by another university with a successful grade may be recognized by the related programmes after the letter of the students includes course contents and the transcript, and by the recommendation of the head of the departments and by the decision of the Board of Directors. The courses taken by the outgoing Exchange students have the recognition at the school either as compulsory or elective.

Second Cycle (Masters Degree) Programme with thesis is comprised of courses (at least 54 ECTS), a seminar (2 ECTS), and field study (4 ECTS) and thesis (60 ECTS) credits. İn total 120 ECTS credits. Students must have minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.50/4.00 and completed all the courses with at least CB / S / TP grades.

Profile of the Programme

Internal Medicine Nursing Msc programme started education at 1994. The objectives of this programme are provide contemporary knowledge to meet roles and responsibilities of internal medicine nurses; to use the current knowledge and skills on internal medicine patient care management. Program contains 4 Compulsory Course each semester and elective courses in different Internal Medicine Nursing fields. Students may take courses from different programs and university.

Assessment of students was done with 1 midterm examination, 1 final examination, homework and project studies. Students must have minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.50/4.00 and completed all the courses with at least CB / S / TP grades.
