History

Nursing Management Msc programme started education at 1999. Program duration is 2 years (1 year is course, 1 Year is thesis study) . Program language is Turkish.

Specific Admission Requirements

Bachelor s Degree; having obtained at least 55 from relevant branch of Academic Personnel and Postgraduate Education Entrance Exam (ALES) or from exams equivalence of which are accepted; in case of graduate of Faculty of Medicine having obtained at least 50 from Medical Specialty Exam (TUS); having obtained at least 50 from Foreign Language Exam (YDS) or from other foreign language exams equivalence of which are accepted or at least 55 from the exam held by DEU Foreign Languages Institute. Transcript; having obtained at least 65 from the Post Graduate Science Exam.

Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)

According to the Regulations of Dokuz Eylül University for Graduate Schools, students are not connected to the right for internal transfer, previously taken courses at another graduate programme by another university with a successful grade may be recognized by the related programmes after the letter of the students includes course contents and the transcript, and by the recommendation of the head of the departments and by the decision of the Board of Directors. The courses taken by the outgoing Exchange students have the recognition at the school either as compulsory or elective.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations

Second Cycle (Masters Degree) Programme with thesis is comprised of courses (at least 30 ECTS-25-26 credit course), a seminar (2 ECTS), and field study (4 ECTS) and thesis (60 ECTS) credits. İn total 120 ECTS credits. Students must have minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.50/4.00 and completed all the courses with at least CB / S / TP grades.

Profile of the Programme

In this program, it is aimed to enable the student to obtain deep knowledge in the field of nursing management, transfer the knowledge of nursing management to the application field, access and use to the knowledge in the field, assess the knowledge critically, make scientific research and contribute to the field. Program contains 3 Compulsory Course each semester and elective courses in different fields. Students may take courses from different programs and university.

Key Learning Outcomes

1   The student deepens the evidence-based and advance knowledge related with care management and field of management in nursing in undergraduate education of nursing.
2   The student integrates the basic concepts that are obtained from disciplines related with managerial field with the field of management in nursing.
3   The student transfers theoretical knowledge that are obtained from the field of management in nursing to the application field.
4   The student realizes problems about the field of management in nursing and starts the change for solution.
5   The student solves problems in nursing that require managerial specialty by using the scientific research methods.
6   The student conducts a planned and scientific research for the identification and solution of problems in the field of management in nursing.
7   The student uses managerial skills in accordance with regulations and ethical principles regarding nursing.
8   The student is involved in projects that are conducted by various disciplines.
9   The student displays attitudes and behaviours that are required to be a good manager and leader.
10   The student reflects the study outcomes on care management and field of management in nursing.
11   The student solves a problem in the field of management in nursing by using the process of solving a scientific problem.
12   The student follows the changes in health politics that affect health care systems, hospital and nursing services management.
13   The student applies the changes in health politics by critical thinking.
14   The student assesses the convenience of nursing services with quality standarts and targets of patient security, and contributes to their development.
15   The student follows the knowledge in her/his field and makes contact with foreign colleagues by using a foreign language.
16   The student uses the informatics and communication technologies at an advanced level that is required by the field of management in nursing .

This degree enables the holder to exercise the profession in the public or private sector.

Access to Further Studies

Graduates may apply to PhD programmes in Nursing Management.

Assessment of students was done with 1 midterm examination, 1 final examination, homework and presentation studies, course participation. Students must have minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.50/4.00 and completed all the courses with at least CB / S / TP grades.
