History |
Second Cycle Program of Opera Department was first established in 1991 in the Institute of Social Sciences, Dokuz Eylül University. In 2002, the program was transferred to Fine Arts Institute at İnciraltı campus. The program is open to all students of conservatory who has the first cycle diploma of Opera Department. |

Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal) |
According to the Regulations of Dokuz Eylül University for Graduate Schools, students are not connected to the right for internal transfer, previously taken courses at another graduate programme by another university with a successful grade may be recognized by the related programmes after the letter of the students includes course contents and the transcript, and by the recommendation of the head of the departments and by the decision of the Board of Directors. The courses taken by the outgoing Exchange students have the recognition at the school either as compulsory or elective. |

Profile of the Programme |
The Second Cycle Program of Opera Department is primarily intended for students who hold a Bachelor s degree in Opera and whose aim is to be specialized in field and make a academic career or make a progress as a performer. Students of this program during the first two semesters besides taking performance lessons such as Voice Training, Acting, Opera and Song Literature, they also improve their substructure knowledge of music by taking theoretical courses such as Opera History and Voice Anatomy and Physiology. The education process ends up with a thesis that would be completed in two semesters and a final recital. |

Occupational Profiles of Graduates with Examples |
Graduates of Second Cycle Program of Opera Department can be employed in national and international opera houses as soloists or choir members. They can sing as freelance solo singers in Symphonic orchestras, chamber music groups and chamber orchestras. They can be employed either in private or public choirs as well. They can also find a position in academic institutions as lecturers and make further academic studies. |

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading |
The regulations for examination and grading are arranged in the fourth part of DEU Graduate School of Fine Arts Educational and Examinational Regulations. The lowest grade to be successful in a credit course is 75. Detailed assessment methods and criteria for courses are explained in syllabi. |
Graduation Requirements |
Second Cycle (Master's Degree) Programme with thesis is comprised of at least 7 courses, not being less than 21 national credits, a seminar and specialization courses and thesis studies, in total 120 ECTS credits. |
