General Description

History

Master of Business Administration without Thesis program, which commenced its education activities in 2003, was redesigned for Executives in 2012, in order to better serve the needs of managers and professionals. The program renders advanced level education which develops the knowledge, skills and competency for those individuals who would either like to work or already work as a manager in the private sector. Moreoever, the program provides an opportunity to major in entrepreneurship for those individuals who would like to establish their own businesses. In this program, courses are taught between the hours 17:30 and 22:00. The programs language of instruction is 100 percent English.

Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)

According to the Regulations of Dokuz Eylül University for Graduate Schools, students are not connected to the right for internal transfer, previously taken courses at another graduate programme by another university with a successful grade may be recognized by the related programmes after the letter of the students includes course contents and the transcript, and by the recommendation of the head of the departments and by the decision of the Board of Directors. The courses taken by the outgoing Exchange students have the recognition at the school either as compulsory or elective.

1,5 years, 2 semesters per year, 16 weeks per semester, 90 ECTS in total.

Profile of the Programme

Efficient and effective management of businesses is extremely important in an ever increasing competetion in todays world. In this program, advanced level knowledge and skills about the business administration are provided to students from various backgrounds. The program renders opportunities for speacializing in one of the business functions such as marketing, management, accounting, finance, production and information systems besides general business administration.Thus, it is expected that those students who finish the program successfully can work as managers in middle and high level positions in institutional firms both in Turkey and also abroad. Moreover, the program provides an opportunity to major in entrepreneurship for those individuals who would like to establish their own businesses.
The objective of this program is to educate professionals and entrepreneurs who have an ability to evaluate the effects of national and international developments related with business and its environment on the firm performance; have an ability to develop strategy, and manage the change using modern management techniques; have an ability to play a critical role in team working and to contribute to the strategic decision making process considering the interactions between business functions; are equipped with in-depth knowledge in the fundamental areas of business management; have an ability to perform synthesis using quantitative-qualitative techniques and information technologies; have an advanced ability in reporting and presentation skills; possess holistic perspective and professional ethical values.

Key Learning Outcomes

1   To develop and deepen students knowledge on basic managerial functions regarding their chosen field of study and to enable them to use this comprehensive knowledge in the decision-making processTo .
2   To help students cultivate the habit of following, analyzing, discussing developments regarding businesses and their work environments on a national and international level while educating them to formulize solutions using scientific methods.
3   To collect data regarding management using an analytical approach; to analyze said data using quantitative and qualitative decision techniques; to report findings; to present and interpret this information and use it in the financial decision-making process with the use of information systems
4   To take responsibility for formulization and application of strategy while appraising basic managerial functions and their intrinsic relationship in a holistic approach.
5   To establish an effective oral and written communications link by use of Turkish and other foreign languages (B2) and to support the defense of original ideas.
6   To enhance research and organizational skills and focus being careful, result oriented and objective while developing solutions to business problems.
7   To develop skills regarding; participation in and conducting group projects; and the general outlook on teamwork
8   To help comprehend the importance of professional business ethics.

Course Structure Diagram with Credits

In this program, courses are taught in three semesters. All courses are compulsory in the first semester. In the second semester, there are four compulsory courses and one elective course. Compulsory courses are designed to cover all the functions of a business. Elective courses, on the other hand, are formed so that the students can specialize on a certain function of the business. Business Policy and Strategic Management course provides a way to handle and interpret all the functions of a business so that the management can be evaluated in a holistic manner. Third semester consists of two compulsory courses and one module. In this module, there are three electives: - Digital World - International Business and Management - Entrepreneurship Each module includes three courses. Thus, the program consist 73 percent of compulsory and 27 percent elective courses.

Graduation Requirements

Second Cycle (Masters Degree) Non-Thesis Program is comprised of courses (at least 84 ECTS), Term Project (6 ECTS), in total 90 ECTS credits. Students must have minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.50/4.00 and completed all the courses with at least CB/S/TP grades.
