: Textile Engineering

General Description

History

Textile engineering is the engineering branch which provides education and performs researches on processing textile raw materials by various techniques and the development of new techniques in this field. Graduates work in textile-clothing industry, which is largest of the country in terms of workforce.

The Textile Engineering Department of Dokuz Eylul University was established in 1997 and has achieved to become one of the important educational and scientific institutions of Turkey with its academic staff, continuously renewed academic study program in accord with the scientific developments and feed backs from industry with the department s research infrastructure developing correspondingly by the modern technology.

MSc program was initiated in 1998 and the department has been continuing its education in Tinaztepe since 2008. The academic staff consists of 6 professors, 1 associate professor, 3 assistant professors, 3 lecturers, 1 specialist and 11 research assistants. The department contributes to meeting the need of qualified engineers for the industry and scientific society by providing MSc and PhD programs on Textile Engineering

The standart period of MSc program is 2 years. First graduates of the program were in the year 2000. By the academic year, a total of 58 students have graduated from MSc program and 19 students are continuing their education.
The graduate programs of the department provide important opportunities for the successful and skilful students to further their education and to move to upper level programs.
