: Natural Building Stones Technology

General Description

History

Dokuz Eylül University Natural Building Stones Department was founded and affiliated to Dokuz Eylül University Torbalı Vocational School in 1993 with the main mission of training qualified technicians and also to contribute to the economy of the Aegean region by extracting, exploiting and marketing of the natural stones as well as carrying out research and development work. The programme is founded as Marbling Programme and got its current name in 2009. The department accepts about 60 new students every year. Upon successfully completing the obligatory-selective lessons and apprenticeship, the students are graduated. Our programme covers formal education and the education language is Turkish. Academical activities of the department are concentrated particularly on rock mechanics, marble and aggregate technologies, quarrying and plant rehabilitation, architectural design and application of natural stone, mosaic carving-relief and sculpture. The department educates technicians based on practical training in the fields of natural stone, its technology and application.
