Course Objective

This course aims to equip students of all departments with the knowledge and skills regarding the basic concepts of computers, hardware and computer ethics and usage of computers. In addition, students learn how to use computers, a word processing software, spreadsheet and presentation software effectively in the school and professional works.

Course Contents

Week Subject Description
1 Introduction of the course and the basic concepts of computer technologies. Basic hardware components and their functions. Computer ethics
2 Desktop, file transfer, copying, deleting, and other desktop operations such as recalling a deleted file. Introduction of the start menü, personalising the desktop, intro to a word processing software. Explanation of why a word processing software used. General introduction of the Word screen, opening and closing, saving, printing, publishing a document and their applications.
3 Creating visualy appealing and professional texts by using the menus; using titles, font, adjusting paragraphs, applications
4 Making tables and index table by using a word processor. Creating a drawing object by using a word processor.
5 Creating footnot upper note, resources table of graphics and adding
6 Explanation of spreadsheets software and its screen layout, file operations (opening and closing, saving, printing, publishing a document and their applications. Entering, copying, deleting, carrying data and creating series.
7 Midterm
8 Formin data entered, conditioned formation and data features. Simple arithmetic operations.
9 Creating graphics, graphics features, shaping graphics, explanation of commands and applications
10 Data operations such as importing data to spreadsheets, ordering data, filtering, grouping, etc.
11 Explanation of presentation software and its screen layout, file operations (opening and closing, saving, printing, publishing a document and their applications. Entering, copying, deleting, carrying data and creating series.
12 Designing an planıng a presentation pages
13 Adding pictures, graphics, sound and videos to the presentation. Adding links in the file our outside the file.
14 Adding animations, time and presentation planning. Properties of good presentations.
15 Final exam
