Course Objective

Learning geographical terms, concepts and their usage in English. Learning translation techniques of geography texts from English into Turkish.

2   To learn application of translation methods in a practical manner (from English into Turkish)
3   To learn English applications of various geographical expression and concepts
4   Leading English geographical texts
5   Writing short sentences in English

Course Contents

Week Subject Description
1 The practical methods and applications and their usages in translation of sentences from English into Turkish.
2 The words and terms related to area, region and location. Examples and solving the test.
3 The words and terms related to direction, position and surrounding. Examples and tests.
4 The usages and examples of the words, terms and expressions which related to extending and elevation
5 The expressions, examples and tests related to have being cut downward by faults and running waters of land parts, tectonic movements, faulting and to be characteristic of etc.
6 The terms, expressions and their usages related to appear, occur, to happen, to take place, to form, to constitute and produce etc.
7 The terms, expressions, examples and test related to be composed of, consist of, to be comprised of etc.
8 MIDTERM EXAM
9 The terms, expressions, examples and test related to relation, to be related to, in relation to, to contain, to include, content, to comprise etc.
