Course Objective

The aim of this course is to explain how historical monuments, inherited from Medieval and New Ages, are excavated by art historians and how they are evaluated. It also aims to emphasize the importance of handing art objects, considered as cultural heritage and the common heritage of all humanity, down the next generations.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To be able to explain terms of art and history of art
2   To be able to learn sites and archaeological remains of art objects
3   To be able to have conscious of protecting moveable or nonmoveable art objects
4   To be able to tell art museums and their importance in Turkey
5   To be able to explain mosque and madrasa architecture on Seljukian settlements
6   To be able to enumerate important works of art (mosque, inn, palace) in the Ottoman cities
7   To be able to write works of art on the Unesco World Cultural Heritage List
