Course Objective

The aim of this course is to enable the students to acquire the knowledge on evolution of science since ancient civilization, the development in Mesopotamia, in ancient Egypt, in the Hellenistic period, in Islamic times, in the Ottoman period and to learn the development progress of astronomy, mathematics, physics, medicine, biology and the rest in that periods, in Renaissance and to recognize the progress of scientific and technical development in 19th and 20th century, to follow the scientific and technical development today.

1   To be able to aquire acancient civilization, the scientific and technical development and achievements during this period
2   To be able to learn the main periods of scientific development
3   To be able to acquire the scientific developments in Mesopotamia, in ancient Egypt, in the Hellenistic period, in Islamic times, in the Ottoman period
4   To be able to learn the development progress of astronomy, mathematics, physics, medicine, biology and the rest in the West and in Renaissance
5   To be able to acquire the scientific developments in 19th and 20th century
6   To be able to follow the scientific and technical development today

9 Contribution of Charles Darwin to science (The theory of evolution)
