Course Objective

The aim of this course is to enable the students to acquire the basic knowledge on semantics, syntax and history of German language and to provide knowledge, thought and awareness relating to language system.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Ability to acquire the basic terms of semantics, the change of meaning of word, lexical field theory of Leo Weisgerber
2   Ability to acquire the methods of immediate constituent analysis (IC- analysis), phrase structure grammar and generative grammar
3   Ability to acquire dependence grammar, the basic terms "Rektion-Valenz" predetermines patterns to build sentences in German
4   Ability to acquire the development history of German language
