Course Objective

To teach main piano techniques and practice methods; to performance works from piano repertoire.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Learns main piano techniques in appropriate to the level of second grade.
2   Transfers techniques which are gained from works practiced appropriate to the level of second grade to other works
3   Knows characteristics of composer s periods in works appropriate to the level of second grade.
4   Compares with contemporary music to their period of music history in appropriate to the level of second grade.
5   Analyses works according to harmony and form in appropriate to the level of second grade.
6   Forms musical expression in works performed appropriate to the level of second grade.
7   Determines the effectiveness of the performance to detect mistakes in the playing works in appropriate to the level of second grade.
8   Evaluates about own performance in appropriate to the level of second grade.

1 Repetition of scales and arpeggios, starting to the etude practice suitable to the level
2 First part of a Sonatine, sight reading of the polyphonic pieces
3 Working on Sonatine or Sonata's first part in detail. E Major scale and arpeggio
4 Giving information and application on musical sentence, imitation, arm and finger staccatto
5 Working on an etude in details
6 Working polyphonic pieces in details, sight reading of Romantic or Contemporary pieces.
7 B Major scale and arpeggio
8 Midterm exam
9 Working on musical expression
10 Working on Romantic or Contemporary pieces in details
11 Working on techniqual difficulties of etudes
12 Repetition of scales and arpeggios
13 Necessary practices for removing techniqual difficulties
14 Preparation for Final Exam
15 Final exam
