Course Objective

Gain behaviors to music teacher candidates to use their own voices healty, correct, beautiful and effective in speech and singing and gain competence in voice training instructor.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Learns basic information to use natural and healthy his/her own voice.
2   Learns basic information to human voice system and physiology.
3   Comprehends preliminary studies prepared to controlled singing and learns to controlled use of diaphragm breath.
4   Learns basic elements in correct and aesthetic voice production.
5   Gains basic information needed to distinguish types and features of voice
6   Learns different songs from Turkish and world voice literature.
7   Gets the lifelong learning habit.

Course Contents

Week Subject Description
1 Technical studies in preparation for the course. Selection of the songs to work during the semester and starting to the Arie Antiche album.
2 Technical exercises. Technically voice exercises with the nuances and practising technically nuance studies on the songs.
3 Technical exercises. Voice exercises with long melodies and different syllables and studies on selected songs.
4 Studies to use gained technical skills for production of homogeneous and good voice. Continuation of works on the songs.
5 Technical exercises and studying on examination songs, detection and elimination of deficiencies.
6 Strengthening studies with piano accompaniment and memorization of examination songs.
7 Study week
8 Mid-term exams
9 Messa di voce studies and continuation of studies on the songs.
10 Understanding of the natural position of vibrato within the voice. Exercises for understanding of differences between vibrato, trill and wobble.
11 Using of proper breathing, correct vocal positions, using the voice in resonance area, legato and staccato singing, attack and intonation, balance of registers, control over the songs of nuances and vibrato techniques.
12 Identification of examination-oriented songs and detailed study.
13 Technical exercises, working on examination songs, detection and elimination of deficiencies.
14 Technical exercises, Strengthening studies with piano accompaniment and memorization of examination songs.
15 Final Exam

Vaccaj (Nicola Vaccaj), Unterrichtslieder (Paul Losse), Concone (Giuseppe Concone), Arie Antiche I-II-III, Neapoliten songs, Accompaniment Folk Songs.
