Course Objective

Introduction of Bağlama, simple exercises with right and left hands, playing simple melodies starting with hüseyni melodies that are being used very much in Turkish folk music also being used as school music.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Holds his instrument and spring ( tezene ) correctly
2   Knows the places and names of notes on C string
3   Uses different spring ("tezene") styles at different strings
4   Performs melodies by "Çırpma Tezene"
5   Performs melodies by "Karadeniz Tezenesi"
6   Performs melodies in 2/4, 4/4, 5/8, 7/8 ve 9/8 measures

1 General intruduction of Bağlama, The importance of Bağlama in school-music education
2 The signitures that are being used in Bağlama
3 Siting correctly on Bağlama and keeping it in correct way. Teaching to use the right and the left hands
4 Coordination between two hands
5 Teaching the location of Do, Re, Mi notes on Bağlama
6 Teaching The C String
7 General scanning, teaching the "Tezene" and playing melodies as example.
8 Midterm Exam
9 Playing Etudes
10 Location of Re, Mi, Fa,Sol notes one octave above on Bağlama
11 Teaching the Karadeniz Tezene
12 Playing of 5/8, 7/8, 9/8 melodies with Karadeniz Tezene
13 Exercising of Etude 4/Playing Suit 1
14 Working on melodies with playing as general and Karadeniz Tezene
15 Final Exam
