An overview of biological concepts; and to help the students gain an appreciation of importance that biology plays in our lives and will continue to play in the future

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Being able to have of knowledge about the basic characteristics of cell namely; the structure, division, growth, development, metabolism of which.
2   Being able to have of knowledge about Mendel s genetics and principles.
3   Being able to of knowledge about the structure of DNA, replication and protein synthesis; thereby, having knowledge of heredity .
4   Being able to comprehend of knowledge about classification of living-things .
5   Being able to apply knowledge about plantal and animal tissues .

1 Introducation of the biology course and deciding the evaluation of course cooperatively.
2 Difference between live and lifeless, common characteristics of living things.
3 Chemistry of living things, inorganic compounds, organic compounds, nucleic acids.
4 Cell, prokaryotic cell, eukaryotic cell, cytoplasm, organelles, nucleus
5 Passage of substance from the cell membrane, passive transport (diffusion, osmosis), active transport, ekzositosis, endositosis (fagositoz, pinositoz).
6 Cell division, amitoz division, mitotic division, meiosis, gamete formation in plants, gamete formation in animals, segmentation.
7 Classification of living things, viruses, bacteria, fungi, plants, animals
8 Mid-term exam
9 Feeding patterns of organisms, reproductive patterns of organisms, asexual reproduction, sexual reproduction.
