Course Objective

To raise individuals who are open to discussion and able to accept that religion can be criticised So, they can sustain a religion and a modern faith that is compatible with science, rational and able to provide to happiness of a enlightened and thinking society.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Student, at the end of the semester, will be able to differentiate the prejudgements that prevent thinking straight, and the things whether they are related to religion by getting know them.
2   Will get know the classical and modern literature; and get information about the history of philosophy of religion.
3   Will be able to study philosophically on religious texts and state modern comments about them.
4   Through the understanding the nature of religion they will be able to grasp the inner and conscience s dimensions of it.
5   Will be able to understand the nature of some views that enrich the religious thought, such as pluralism etc.

Course Contents

1 Analyses of the terms: Philosophy, Religion, Systematic Philosophy, Philosophy of Religion and Religious Philosophy.
2 The relation of Philosophy with Religious Sciences.
3 Features of philosophical and religious thoughts; Nature of believing and faith.
4 The terms: conception and endorsement; will and act; true and truth.
5 Some problems in Metaphysics, cosmology, Epistemology, Ethic and Morality.
6 Proof and the logic of proving; Ontological evidence, cosmological evidence, teleological evidence.
7 Religious experience and its philosophical values; the evidence of religious experience and its criticism; mystical religious understanding and world view.
8 Mid-term exam
9 God-Universe relation and concepts of God
10 Some discussions about religious language; Talking about God and related attributes.
11 Some discussions about freedom of human being; problem of immortality; evil and atheism.
12 The relation of religion with science, morality and culture.
13 Pragmatism and religion; the pragmatic sides of actual life.
14 The relation between Pluralism-Dialog-Notification
15 Final exam
