Course Objective

To examine the socio-cultural, economic and political infrastructures of cities and the phenomenon of urbanization, to investigate the connections between foreign migrations and urbanization, to define the urbanization process in Turkey, to evaluate the relationships between theories of settlement and modern settlements within the changing global interaction, to make multi-dimensional analyses of the phenomenon of urbanization developing out of legal regulation, to investigate the relationships between house and settlement problems and human rights, and to inform about urban security and urban rights.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Being able to compare reasons and results of urbanization
2   Being able to create healthy cities that are among the most important elements for sustainable management
3   Being able to discuss the bases of efficiency in urban services and democratic participation
4   Being able to develop strategies against the crimes committed against the city
5   Being able to know and to solve social problems
6   Being able to define policies which are necessary forurban rights
