Course Objective

To give a knowledge about the features of the unit operations such as precipitation, filtration and aeration and basic theoretical principles, used in Environmental Engineering.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Gives information about the basic processes of environmental engineering,
2   Gives information about the theory and design principles of sedimentation,
3   Provides the knowladge about filtration mechanism and ability to sand filters design,
4   Provides the knowladge about gas transfer mechanism and the ability to solve problems relatedto aerators,
5   Provides the ability to define and solve problems in the field of environmental engineering.

7 Mechanisms of filtration, sand filter elements
8 Sand filter hydraulic problems, the design principles
9 Flow control in the filter and slow sand filters

13 Aerators used for the treatment of drinking water and wastewater treatment and selection procedures
