Course Objective

To provide capabilities to obtain equations of motion of dynamical systems and calculation of system responses to different inputs.

1   To determine the degree of freedom of dynamical systems
2   To find the equation of motion of dynamical systems
3   To show the similarities between the mechanical, thermal, fluid and electrical systems
4   To find the transfer functions of dynamical systems
5   To find the response of the dynamical systems to different inputs
6   To analyze the multi-degree of freedom systems

1 Basic concepts in modeling the mechanical systems
2 Equations of motion of mechanical systems
3 Calculation of eigen values of mechanical systems with computers
4 Modeling of mechanical systems with computers
5 Electrical systems
6 Modeling of fluid and thermal systems, analogy between systems
7 Modeling of electromechanical systems
8 Linear systems and concept of transfer function
9 Solution of differential equation with Laplace transformation
10 Finding the response of linear systems to different inputs
11 Analysis of multi degree of freedom systems with state variables, numerical solution methods
12 Equation of motion of nonlinear systems and linearization

Assessment Criteria

Home works are assigned to the students each week after the weekly lessons. Students strengthen their learning by solving home works. The successes of the students are evaluated by 2 mid-term exams and 1 final exam.
