Course Objective

Teaching the weaving technique and woven fabric structures. Gaining the abilities to apply weaving technique, to solve weaving problems and to plan weaving production. Creating concepts on productivity and cost.

1 Introduction to woven fabric structure, historical development of weaving
2 Weaving preparation processes, introduction to weaving loom, basic motions of a weaving loom
3 Auxiliary motions of a weaving loom, fabric formation on the loom, practical work
4 Formation of weave structure on the loom, representation of weaves on point paper, basic weaves
5 Shedding systems, tappet shedding motion, dobby shedding motion, depth of shedding, practical demonstration
6 Introduction to jacquard loom, jacquard shedding system, jacquard calculations
7 Picking systems, practical work
8 Midterm Exam
9 Colour weaving, colour and weave effect, practical demonstration
10 Winding, weft winding, warp preparation, practical work
11 Weaving calculations, application
12 Setting theories, application of setting theories
13 Midterm Exam
14 Weaving productivity, weaving preparation productivity,applications
