Course Objective

The main objective of this course is to describe and demonstrate in general the basic concepts knowledge area of project management, its functional efficiencies and role in urban planning activities. The course is also expected to play a supplementary role in urban transportation planning especially for planners highly interested in implementation of decisions. For those students who are willing to get specialized in identification of macro projects can get benefit for gaining skills in analysing the project proposals and feasibility assessment in management and financement aspects. It is also expected to give students basic knowledge in economical and financial evaluation of transportation systems. For this an emphasis will be given on the ways of interdisciplinary approaches of transport economy and its interactions with those disciplines. Specialities of economical and technical project evaluation methods are the main issues for students concern. Also various activities in project management are tried to be given in details for their perception. Project evaluation and programming techniques are also the main topis of the course together with the theory of organization.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   At the end of this course, students, will be able to analyze the urban macro project (Perception),
2   Will be able to make economical and financial analysis in relation to the investment projects in urban areas and regions (Knowledge),
3   Will be able to understand the role of interdisciplinary approaches (Perception),
4   Will be able to understand and evaluate the investment decisions with their economical, political and administrative aspects (Implementation),
5   Will be able to prepare comprehensive project evaluating and programming tasks with technical, political, economical, financial, legislative and administrative aspects (Synthesis).

6 Interrelations of work time resources.
7 Work and employment - allocation programs. Phases of project implementation. Subject of term paper
8 Mid-Term Exam
9 General frame work of project management and integration management.
10 Structure of project management and details of the related activities. Research for the case study
11 Cost analysis, concepts, cost management, cost and benefit studies.
12 Scope and quality management.
13 Risk management, estimations and projections.
14 Time analysis and management. Management of human resources. Submission of Home Works

This course will be given through lectures and the students will learn by attending and conceiving the lectures. Besides the midterm examination, students will be asked to prepare homework.
