Course Objective

The objective of this course is to develop design ability which is gained by the MIM 1501 Basic Design Course on an abstract basis into designing projects in the context of the theme and environment regarding form-function-structure relationship.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Determine the environmental, functional, formal and structural elements of architectural design by use of Basic Design course background.
2   Establish relationships among data of architectural design problem.
3   Adjust the architectural design concepts to the design problems due to the environmental components and functional requirements
4   Criticize different design layouts that are developed within this process.
5   To develop unique designs within the context of problems data that are criticized.

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

Courses / Application: At the first part of lectures, instructors will make presentations or assessments on the defined topic. Students will make two and three dimensional architectural designs. Students designs will be criticized by the instructors.
Homework: Students will develop their designs through the critics and present them by drafts and models for the following lessons.
