Course Objective

To equip students beginning to the education of architecture with skills to use basic computer aided architectural drawing and image processing softwares, as a means to architectural representation and expression.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Recognizing the logic of computer aided architectural drawing softwares and using them
2   Recognizing the logic of image processing softwares and using them
3   Recognizing the relation of inter-softwares
4   Developing the architectural expression and presentation skills in multimedia
5   Providing the understanding that allows self improvement and update of the gained multimedia skills

1 Aim of the course. Introduction to the basic concepts of computers and information technologies in architecture
2 Digital image processing: Use of layers; image and text editing and transformations
3 Digital image processing: Selection, filter and image enhancement tools
4 Image editing software: basic tools and application
5 Computer aided drafting: Coordinate systems, basic draw and display commands
6 Draw and modify commands: Drawing aids
7 Draw and modify commands: Layers and linetypes
8 Draw and modify commands: advanced editing commands; text commands and editing
9 Advanced drawing tools and crosshatching
10 Advanced drawing tools and plotting
11 3D Modeling in computer aided drawing: Solids
12 Midterm Exam
13 3D Modeling in computer aided drawing: Surfaces
14 3D Modeling in computer aided drawing: lights, shadows and materials
