Course Objective

The aim of the course of is to introduce the basic components of architectural space -`user', spatial organization', `scale', `material', `light', `sound', `color', `texture'. The student who gains the knowledge on the architectural tectonics is expected to design a specified interior effect and transfer it to his/her design and use proper presentation techniques.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Label the basic components of design such as form, function, structure etc.
2   Explain and distinguish the basic components of the architectural space (`user', 'spatial organization', `scale', `material', `light', `sound', `color', `texture').
3   Analyze and decode an architectural space through pointing out its basic components.
4   Develop an architectural effect within a design problem via using the basic components of architectural space.
5   Present the desired effect in a design problem by using the proper graphical presentation techniques and justify it to the perceiver/client/reviewer.

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

The conceptual framework and knowledge on the components of architectural space are transferred through oral and graphic presentations prepared by the course instructor. Students prepare PRESENTATIONS by making use of this data and along with it, DESIGNS TASKS are assigned in order to analyse and interpret this conceptual knowledge.
