Course Objective

Evaluating the major developments of Turkish architecture in the context of the Modernization project and the political, social, cultural structure of the country

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Describe the major developments of Turkish Architecture in the period extending from the beginning of the Republic untill1970's, 1980's.
2   Associate these developments with the Modernization project and the political, social, cultural structure of the country
3   Use the data gained, in the researches and presentations developed on the base of the selected architects, buildings or other productions of Republican Architecture
4   Examine the presented examples
5   Develop the researches in the light of critics expressed in discussions

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

Theoretical/Visual Lectures:
In the course, theoretical/visual lectures related with the subjects will be realized accompanied by the student discussions.
Student Presentations: In the last weeks of the term, the researches related the subjects selected by the students will be presented and discussed in class medium. The assignments of the presented studies will be gathered at the end of the term.
