Course Objective

In this course, it is aimed to enable the student to have information about the occupational health, development of occupational health in the World and Turkey, organizations related with occupational health, occupational health and safety, occupational health nursing, its historical development, roles and responsibilities, application standards, regulation of occupational health nursing, health protection, ethical principles, risk groups, workplace nursing practices, assessment of workplace nursing, process of workplace nursing, budget planning, registers, and provide the required equipment for them to work as workplace nurses.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   The student can become acquainted with regulations that provide basis for the presentation of occupational health service
2   The student can explain the roles of the occupational health nurse, regarding the presentation of occupational health service aimed at the workplace and workers
3   The student can define the general occupational health and safety problems in working environments
4   The student can become acquainted with the applications to be conducted aimed at the workers health
5   The student can become acquainted with the health education and consultancy principles aimed at workers health
6   The student can explain the assessment methods of occupational health services
7   The student can become acquainted with the developments in the presentation of occupational health services
8   The student can become acquainted with the ethical principles that will be used by the nurse in working environments
9   The student can define the research requirements aimed at working environments

The exams assess the skills of; interpretation, recall, decision making, explanation, combination of knowledge.
The student homeworks assess; their researches and analyses regarding a subject, comparison with World examples, evidence-based applications, the skills of writing and self expression.
