Course Objective

In this course, it is aimed to train psychiatric nurses, who can handle individual, family and society with their biopsychosocial dimensions, combine the knowledge of theories and models aimed at protecting and developing the mental health with practice, take on the responsibility of individuals and families with mental disorders, are sensitive to ethical principles, aware of responsibilities, skilful at problem solving and critical thinking.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Discussion of development, role and functions, responsibility areas, standarts of psychiatric nursing, as well as its condition in the world and our country.
2   Comprehension of concepts and models related with the treatment and rehabilitation of mental health protection and development .
3   Questioning the available condition in our country regarding the treatment and rehabilitation of mental health protection and development.
4   Comprehension of theories and models related with psychiatric nursing
5   Assessment of psychosocial dimensions of individual, family and society, determination of their care needs, provision of care in line with evidence-based applications.
6   of the knowledge obtained in the field of psychiatric nursing in assessing the psychosocial dimensions of patients hospitalized in psychiatric clinics and provision of care.
7   Use of the knowledge obtained in the field of psychiatric nursing, as well as the skills of problem solving and practice in interdisciplinary studies.
8   Organizing the application fields according to therapeutic environment principles

Assessment Criteria
