Course Objective

To learn the place and importance of Max Weber s Sociology, his effects on sociological studies in Turkey, and to study his effects on economic and moral behaviour.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To learn important sociological theories and methodologies of Weber.
2   To study the impact of these theories and methodologies on economic and ethical behaviour.
3   To analyse Weber s conception of Protestant Ethic and Spirit of Capitalism.
4   To compare Protestant Ethic and Islamic Puritanism.
5   To study the conception of Islamic Capitalism.
6   To learn cultural aspects of Islamic Business Ethic.
