Course Objective

Able to know about relationships between writing and learning. Writing types and their functions and effects on the mathematics learning process. Knowing and applying selected writing types in order to assessment cognitive and affective performance of students.

1   1. Students have knowledge about writing, writing types and relationships between writing.
2   2. Able to know about relationships between writing and leaning.
3   3. Students have knowledge about learning in mathematics education.
4   4. Compare the differences of Writing Across the Curriculum and Writing to Learn Approach .
5   5. Able to know writing types and their functions and effects on the mathematics learning process

2 Relationships between, Writing and learning, writing and brain functions,
3 Writing in education, general view on the writing types and their properties in terms of teaching/learning outcomes. Discussions on the literature studies and their fundings related to the mathematics education.
4 Expressive writing, transactional writing
5 Journal writing, expository writing
6 Journal writing, expository writing
7 Impromptu writing prompt, writing prompt
8 Midterm exam.
9 Reflective writing, creative writing
10 Summarizing, rewriting, warm-up writing
11 Mathematical biographies,
