Course Objective

This course aims to inform concepts and main characteristics of work safety, work accident, organisation culture and safety culture; to help for improving safety culture in the workplace; to examine work safety emprically by giving information to studenst about safety culture in Turkey and in the World.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To be able to use the notions of work safety and safety culture.
2   Learn to contract between safety culture and organisation culture.
3   Learn to examine the effect of safety culture on safety performance.
4   To be able analyze work safety practices in the world.
5   To be able know the academic studies on work safety culture in Turkey.

2 Examining occupational diseases and work accident (models and concepts).
3 Reviewing the concept of organizational culture.

5 Analyzing the concept of safety culture

9 Analyzing concepts of safety communication, safety training, and safety participation
10 Examining effects of safety culture on safety performance
11 Examining the relation between safety culture and safety climate

13 Analyzing work safety culture in the World and in Turkey

Further Notes About Assessment Methods

It is calculated by taking 40% average grade of Midterm exams, 60% of the final exam success rating.

Assessment Criteria

The understanding degree of students to 5 learning outputs is evaluated by midterm and final exams.
