Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

Students must attend classes, practicals and examinations. The assessment system in the first three years of the curriculum (the preclinical years) is composed of four components; 1.Written/computer based examination which evaluates the theoretical knowledge, 2.Assessment of the students by the tutors according to their performance during the PBL sessions, 3.Practical assessments, and 4.Skills assessment. These assessments are done at the end of each blok. First 3 methods are evaluated out of 100, and skills assessment is based on competency. At the end of the year the students final score, to which above-mentioned first three components contribute, should be above 80/100 in order to be exempt from the final exam. The ones with a score of <80/100 should take the final/make-up exam and are required to score above 65/100 from the assessment components in order to be successful. The assessment in the fourth and fifth years of the curriculum is composed of three components, 1.Written/computer based examination which tests the theoretical knowledge, 2.Objective structured clinical examinations (OSCE), 3.Assessment of the students by the trainers according to their performance during the task. These assessments are done at the end of each blok The students final score, to which all the above-mentioned components contribute, should be above 65/100 in order to be successful from the block. The ones with a score of <65/100 should take the make-up exam and are required to score above 65/100 from the assessment components in order to be successful. During the internship period the assessment are based on competency. The rotations in the sixth year are assessed according to trainer evaluations, log-books and their attendance. The ones who fail have to repeat the rotation.
