Course Objective

One of the aims of this lesson is to make teacher trainees understand the importance and necessity of scientific research, and help them follow the scientific studies in the field of mathematics teaching. Moreover, providing them with the basic knowledge and skills of resarch is intended.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Understanding the importance and necessity of the scientific researches.
2   Understanding the steps and the general process of a research.
3   Recognizing the basic research types and discriminating one from the other.
4   Understanding scientific editions (article, notice, poster, project etc. ) and the differences among them .
5   Reaching scientific (and other) researches intended for teaching mathematics.
6   Designing a research intended for teaching mathematics, implementing it, writing and presenting its results.

4 Looking from the perspective of teaching curriculums of high school mathematics lessons and proficiency in a particular field
5 - The basic approaches at scientific research - Quantitative research paradigm - Qualitative research paradigm and the comparison of two paradigms
6 Types of Research - Experimental researches - Casual comparison researches - Correlation researches
7 An overview of research types - Survey research - Action research - Ethnographic research -Meta-analysis studies
