Course Objective

The aims of this course are to provide primary teacher candidates with national and international music repertoire with their own voice and instruments; making them to comprehend basic components of music and to develop aesthetic point of view with this skills and knowledges so that they can train creative individuals in their courses.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Being able to comprehend basic components of music and curriculum.
2   Being able to apply music in learning and teaching processes by comprehending importance and function of music in education.
3   Being able to sing a song by using the most effective and accurate position.
4   Being able to play a musical instrument in elementary level.
5   Being able to develop national and international song repertoire by knowing Atatürk s opinions on art and music.
6   Being able to apply rhythmic analyzing by knowing importance of rhythm and feeling.
7   Being able to arrange creative music form by improving critical and creative thinking skills.

2 Components of music, basic musical knowledges.
3 Beat and frequency of notes, rhythm and interval concepts.
4 Beat and frequency of notes, rhythm and interval concepts.
5 Simple 2/4 measure, interval- rhythmical articulation, playing instruments, solfege , movement, nuance, form, listening to music, individual, group and assembled singing-playing activities. Groups presentations on music in the World and Turkey.
6 Simple 3/4 measure, interval- rhythmical articulation, playing instruments, solfege , movement, nuance, form, listening to music, individual, group and assembled singing-playing activities.
7 Simple 4/4 measure, interval- rhythmical articulation, playing instruments, solfege , movement, nuance, form, listening to music, individual, group and assembled singing-playing.

Assessment Criteria

1. Rhythm/Bona, playing an instrument, solfege, singing and hearing levels will be evaluated in mid-term and final examinations.
2. Presentation on Music species and forms in the World and Turkey will be evaluated with final examination.

Course Policies and Rules

1. It is obligated to continue to at least 80% of lessons .
2. Every student has to play at least one musical ınstrument in the course.
3. Every trial to copying will be finalized with disciplinary proceedings.
4. The instructor has right to make quizzes same as Bona, playing, hearing and singings.
5. The scores obtained from quizzes will be directly added to exam scores.
