Course Objective

Examining developments in the social studies teaching in the contemporary world and their effects on Turkish education system. In this line, 2004 social studies curriculum and its effects on textbooks and classroom activities in Turkey will also be examined.

1   Able to know the purpose and content of Social Studies course
2   Able to know students' cognitive development features and adapting them to Social Studies course
3   Able to know and practice all teaching strategies, methods and techniques used in Social Studies course
4   Able to know and practice all assessment and evaluation methods used in Social Studies course
5   Able to understand oral and local history methods used in social sciences instruction
