Course Objective

Studens will examine the concepts, subjects and works of Methodology and History of the Exegesis.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Describe the conceps, subjects and works belonged to the history of Quran, the history and the methodology of exegesis.
2   Distinguish the concepts of Tafsir, Tavil, Terceme and Meal; explane the relation between the concept of Quranic sciences and the Methodology of Exegesis.
3   Interprete the subjects related to the Methodology of Exegesis
4   Demonstrate how the exegesis of Prophet and early muslim generation is
5   Interprete the sorts of exegesis and make comparison among the Exegetical Schools

2 Ahruf al-Sab'a, Qıraats and their importance in Exegesis
3 Quranic Exegesis in Prophet and Sahabah period
4 Quranic Exegesis in the period of Tabiin and compiling of exegetic works
5 Notions of Usul and Understanding and the works of usul at-tafseer
6 Historical context in exegesis: Occassions of revelation
7 Abrogation in Exegesis: abrogative and abrogated verses
8 Midterm
9 Quranic Stories, Israiliyyat, Difficult passages and ambiguous verses
10 clear/well established and ambiguous verses
11 Linguistic Tafsir
12 Recurrences, Oaths and Parables in the Quran
13 Garibu'l-Qur'an, meani'l-Qur'an, i'rabu'l-Qur'an, truth and metaphor, and ücuh Nazaire, between verses and suras tenasüb and integrity,
14 Semantic and hermeneutic method of tafsir
15 Final Exam
