Course Objective

The objective of this course is to develop the knowledge about architecture, to learn about the main elements of architectural design as point-line-plane- volume in relation with the meanings of composition, proportion, symmetry-axis, scale, rhythm, harmony, light, and color; to figure out the relations between form-function and structure.

1   At the end of the course it is expected that the learner will be able to understand the definition and the outlines of architecture as a field of design
2   Outline the relations of architecture with other disciplines as a field of design study
3   Comprehend the basic elements of architectural design
4   Express the core values of architectural design
5   Associate the relations between form- function and structure

Courses / Application: In the first weeks of course, instructors will give lectures enriched by visual presentations on determined issues. In the last weeks of the course, students homework presentations will be criticized.
