Course Objective

Examining the basic formations of the history of world art; trying to understand the adventure lived by artistic creation in the periods extending from Prehistoric Times and Antiquity to industrialization and Modernism in the frame of its relations with other creative fields, especially architecture and with some layers such as philosophy and politics.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Describe the basic formations of the history of world art extending from Prehistoric Period to present day
2   Associate the basic developments in history of world art within themselves and with the architectural, philosophical and political atmospheres of the related periods.
3   In the ligt of these data, especially use the comprehensions related the general view of Modern Art in the researches and presentations developed on the base of selected Modern art movements revealed at the end of the 19th century and in the whole 20th century
4   Examine the basic formations of the history of world art
5   In the light of comparisons, combine all data related to the the basic formations of the history of world art

4 Discussing the Ancient Art of Mesopotamia
5 Discussing the Ancient Art of Greek
6 Continuation of discussing the Ancient Art of Greek
7 Discussing the Ancient Art of Roman
8 Mid-term exam
9 Discussing the intellectual, scientific, artistic transformations realized in the Western World and on this extent the Art of Renaissance
10 Continuation of discussing the Art of Renaissance
11 Discussing the Ancient Art of Baroque
12 Discussing the development of Modern Art in the post industrialization period and making student presentations related with the selected Modern Art movements
13 Continuation of the student presentations
14 Continuation of the student presentations

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

Theoretical/Visual Lectures:
In the course, theoretical/visual lectures related with the subjects will be realized accompanied by the student discussions
Student Presentations:
In the last weeks of the term, the researches prepared by the students related with the subjects selected from Modern art movements will be presented and discussed in class medium. The assignments of the presented studies will be gathered at the end of the term.
