Course Objective

With the increasing population and migrations to cities from rural areas, need for residential space increased. Residential areas are formed as rural houses, apartment blocks or public residential sites. Because advantage of fast and easy building of the public residential sites, nowadays, their importance increases. So in this lesson firstly, the existent public residential sites will be analyzed and then new design criteria and needs of people in these sites will be discussed.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   be able to list different house typologies.
2   be able to explain process of social housing generation according to the changing socio-cultural and socio-economic structure.
3   be able to define ways of house design process.
4   be able to explain the principles about the house and neighbourhood design.
5   be able to analysis the social housing in our country and in other countries.

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

At the beginning lessons, the teacher will give the theoretical information. Then the lessons will last by student groups presentations (3-4 students in a group) and discussions.
