Course Objective

In this course, it is aimed to enable the student to obtain the knowledge, skills and competences that are required to manage the care of individuals (infant, child, psychiatric patients) for the protection and development of the health of the individual, family, society and for complex conditions where the health is impaired.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   The student can have knowledge that would conduct the care of the individual, family and society (infant, child, psychiatric patients) with a complex health problem,
2   The student can use the basic nursing knowledge for the solution of complex health problems of the individual, family and society (infant, child, psychiatric patients),
3   The student can use the occupational skills (communication, psychomotor) for the solution of complex health problems of the individual, family and society (infant, child, psychiatric patients),
4   The student can conduct the care of the individual, family and society with a complex health problem through an integrated perception,
5   The student can manage the nursing practices aimed at the protection, development and rehabilitation of the health of the individual, family and society in different age groups,
6   The student can critically assess the health services provided for the individual, family and society (infant, child, psychiatric patients) with a complex health problem,
7   The student can cooperate with the team while conducting the care of the individual, family and society (infant, child, psychiatric patients) with a complex health problem,
8   The student can manage the care of the individual, family and society (infant, child, psychiatric patients) with a complex health problem by using the critical thinking skill,
9   The student can have information about the laws and regulations regarding the individual, family and society (infant, child, psychiatric patients) with a complex health problem,
10   The student can explain the responsibilities that are defined in laws and regulations regarding nursing,

2 illusion and hallucination, types, illusion and hallucination be approached, schizophrenia symptoms, onset age, reasons and types of schizophrenia, epidemiology of schizophrenia, interview, interview with the psychiatric patient, decision of hospitalization made in psychiatry, legal subjects in psychiatry, normal and abnormal behaviours
3 economic difficulties experienced by families with a chronic mental disease patient, How are the family process and family burden affected, loneliness/social isolation, stigma, discharge education, psychosocial treatments in schizophrenia, medical treatment (antipsychotics) in schizophrenia, medical treatment applied in the psychiatric clinic

Assessment Criteria

I.PHASE: 40% of Midterm Exam averages are taken

II. PHASE: 60% of the In-Semester Activities Grade are taken
Practice : 70%
Laboratory : 10%
PDO Sessions : 20%
Total of Percentages x 0.60 = (F)

III. PHASE: Calculation of the In-Semester Grade
In-Semester grade = A + F

IV. PHASE: Exemption from the Semester-End Exam and Conditions of Taking the Exam
a) At least two (2) midterm exams should have been performed for the exemption from the Semester-End Exam.
a) The student should have fulfilled the compulsory course attendance.
b) If the Laboratory and Practice Grade is 50 = or >, the students will take the Semester-End Exam; if it is 50 or <, they will be considered unsuccessful and will not take the Semester-End Exam. (The course will be repeated)
c) If the Practice and In-Semester Grade is = 80 or >, they will be EXEMPTED from the Semester-End Exam.

V. PHASE: Calculation of the Course Success Grade
If the Post-Final Course success grade = (60% of the in-semester grade) + (40% of the end-semester exam (Final)) is = 70 or >; they will be successful; if it is 70 or <, they will be unsuccessful and take the repeat exam (The final exam grade shall be at least 50.)

If the Post-Repeat Course success grade = (60% of the in-semester grade) + (40% of the Repeat) is = 70 or >, they will be successful; if it is 70 or <, they will be unsuccessful and take the repeat exam (The repeat exam grade shall be at least 50)
