Course Objective

To comprehend basic aspects of music analysis as well as advanced harmonic analysis techniques through theoretical knowledge and practical exercises.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Demonstrate main concepts of harmony
2   Explain various chord structures according to their principal aspects.
3   Recognize non-harmonic tones used in works of Baroque, Classic and Romantic periods.
4   Assess structural formations and scale degrees of chords that involve multiple non-harmonic tones.
5   Analyse the place and importance of the smallest harmonic unit within the whole structure.
6   Interpret the effects of functional harmony on the overall design of works.
