Course Objective

This course focuses on the investigation of cognitive behavioural models in relation to the onset and maintenance of various psychological disorders and cognitive behavioural techniques used in the relevant treatment processes. Major depressive disorder, panic disorder, social phobia, obsessive-compulsive disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, post traumatic stress disorder, case examples, contemporary literature on the effectiveness of the cognitive behavioural treatments for these disorders will be included.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Be able to describe basic phenomenological characteristics of mood and anxiety disorders.
2   Be able to comprehend cognitive behavioural models of mood and anxiety disorders.
3   Be able to make cognitive behavioural case formulation based on case examples.
4   Be able to explain cognitive behavioural treatment techniques used for mood and anxiety disorders.
5   Be able to hypothetically adapt cognitive behavioural treatment techniques to the selected case examples.
6   On the basis of the current literature, be able to criticize effectives of the cognitive behavioural treatment techniques used for mood and anxiety disorders.
7   Be able to compare cognitive behavioural models and treatment procedures for the relevant disorders.
