General Description

History

School of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation was established in 03/07/1992 with the legislation number 3887 as third school of Turkey and first in Aegean Region giving undergraduate physiotherapy education. The period of the program includes 8 semesters (excluding two semesters for English preparatory period) and the language of the program is Turkish

Specific Admission Requirements

High school diploma, placement through a nation-wide Student Selection Examination.

Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)

High school diploma, obtaining the required grade from national university placement examination
Previous formal Turkish Higher Education Institutions (formal) recognition of learning (vertical, horizontal and transitions within the university) is determined by the Higher Education Institution in Higher Education Institutions Programs Associate Degree and Masters Level Switch, Double Major, Minor and Inter-Agency Transfer of Credit Regulations Concerning Making takes place within the scope.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations

4 years (excluding one year of English Preparatory School), 2 semesters per year, 16 weeks per semester, 240 ECTS in total.

Profile of the Programme

The aim of the program is to train physiotherapists with necessary and relevant knowledge, professional skills, insight and ethical understanding to plan and carry out the physiotherapy and rehabilitation program by means of evaluate and clinical appraisal methods, independently and also as a member of a medical team in individuals with disease, disability, impairment and/or handicap and also in healthy persons with the aim of taking preventive measures for general health, promotion of fitness and health status in children, adults and elderly, contributing to overall community health related quality of life and health status.

1   Has the ability to communicate effectively.
2   Defines professional duties and responsibilities juridically.
3   Performs the profession in the framework of universal ethical principles.
4   Explains the theoretical knowledge theoretical knowledge related to basic medical and clinical sciences, with the main lines link them with physiotherapy.
5   Interprets the theoretical knowledge between physiotherapy assessment and treatment methods.
6   Performs the methods of physiotherapy assessment and analysis, and clinical physiotherapy diagnose.
7   Plans individual physiotherapy program
8   Performs individual and disease-specific methods of physiotherapy and rehabilitation
9   Has lifelong learning ability in the field
10   Keeps records of assessment and treatment data and archives
11   Use foreign languages effectively in order to be able to follow the latest developments about the occupation
12   Knows the occupational health and safety issues related to the profession and applies them
13   Plans, conducts and presents a scientific research

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

Graduation Requirements

The Bachelor' s Degree is awarded to students who have succesfully completed all courses in the curriculum, acquired 240 ECTS, have a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of at least 60 on a 100 scale and have got no failing grades.
