Profile of the Programme

Biochemistry is a life science that investigates the chemical processes occurring in animals, plants and microorganisms. Biochemistry which is the important research area of Basic Sciences has gained interdisciplinary quality with the development of technology. The present 21st century is defined as the biological sciences and biotechnology era. Today, the goal of science and technology is to provide a solution for presenting healthy environment and life to humanity. For this purpose, the researches carried out or targeted in Biochemistry, Biotechnology and Gene Technology is exponentially increasing. It is also the indication of this situation that Nobel science prizes have recently been received by biochemists.
Within the scope of Biochemistry Master's Program, it is aimed to gain expertness in the fields of -Enzymology, -Plants, Algae and Microorganisms Biochemistry and Bioproduction, -Enzyme, - Antibiotics, -Surfactant Production, - Biomaterial Development, -Oxidative Stress and Antioxidants, - Signal Transduction and Programmed Cell Death (apoptosis), -Cancer Biochemistry, -Toxicology and -Bioinformatics.

Students can participate in co-operative efforts with different universities in both domestically and abroad (Erasmus, foreign scholarships). Faculty members of Science Faculty, Chemistry Department, Biochemistry Division; are involved in Biochemistry Master's Degree Programme within the Institute of Science and Technology.
